GAIA flooring products are ready to install right out of the box, with every product line featuring an attached underlayment. To ensure the longevity of your GAIA floor, do not add extra padding or underlayment. Doing so will void your warranty and likely cause floor failure over time.
Do Not Install Over:
Existing resilient tile floors that are below grade | Existing cushion-backed vinyl flooring | Carpet | Hardwood flooring | Sloping floors or floor drains | Existing floating floors | Foam underlayment | Loose lay vinyl flooring | Rubber | Cork | Laminate | Air vents
Suitable Substrates:
Ensure the subfloor is within the following tolerances: 3/16" over a 10' radius (5 mm in 3 m) or 1/8" over a 6' radius (3 mm in 2 m). Sand high areas or joints and fill low areas with a high compressive strength (minimum 3,000 psi) Portland-based compound. Vertical deflection must not exceed 3/16".
Address and correct jobsite moisture and pH issues prior to installation. Substrates must be free from excessive moisture or alkali. Remove dirt, paint, varnish, wax, oils, solvents, and other contaminants. Failure to use a moisture barrier could affect the integrity of the flooring installation or your warranty.
For ceramic tile, terrazzo, and marble tile floors with grout lines, use a cementitious patch to fill any grout lines, voids, or cracks.
